Miscellany

Looking through my phone photos, I don't seem to have done anything particularly interesting. However I did do some miscellaneous things!

I saw Ironman 3 [vasember 3]. It was in English with Hungarian subtitles, but it turns out that dubbing English movies is a pretty common practice in Hungary. I later saw Star Trek: Into Darkness [Star Trek: Sötétségben] which, interestingly, did not have any Hungarian subtitles. Also you were expected to buy 3d glasses and then keep them for next time. How European!

Also, turns out that they do assigned seats in movie theaters. Novel!

Where have I seen this before?

I saw this guy on my way to BSM for my Quantum class. The sign reads "kiadó [for rent]". Seems legit.

An anti-smoking ad! In Hungary! What!

Went to a pasta bar. They had homemade pasta and these guys at every table. Basil and rosemary plants. So classy.

Day 89: ZOO!

I went to the zoo! It's next to the circus! 

Okay, normally, I think zoos are pretty cool, but not AWESOME. Like, if you've seen one pretty okay zoo, you've seen them all, right? WRONG. Probably the difference between the Budapest Zoo and the ones I'm used to is that they care less? You will not find a "Do Not Feed The Animals" sign here. Hell, there's even one enclosure that DOES NOT SEPARATE YOU FROM THE ANIMALS SERIOUSLY THEY ARE RIGHT THERE YOU COULD HUG THEM IF YOU WANTED. Also this zoo has got some neat science museum aspects and fun things. 

They also have Bonsai trees! What!

Day 87: A "nagy"cirkusz

A couple of us when to the so-called "nagy" [big, great] circusz [circus] in City Park. It was not so nagy, but it was still a really good time. We got the cheap tickets which put us behind the acts but in the front row with the section to ourselves. I had never gone to a circus before but I don't think that this circus was in the top tier of such things. I did have a really good time and was surprised by the number of elephants that could fit in the ring (two, ie more than zero). The individual acts weren't super impressive, but the number, variety, and general atmosphere more than made up for it.

Highlights include:

a juggler who started juggling ping pong balls with his mouth

a jump rope performance with people STANDING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER

an elephant DOING A MOTHERFUCKING HEADSTAND WHAT

Elephants! I kind of felt bad for them, I'm not sure how well they're taken care of.
